COLORADO BREWERIES

Ceil Horowitz embarked on her six and a half year painting adventure in which she traveled by car to paint the first Colorado breweries to ever bottle beer. She visited 30 cities, 3 museums, hops and vegetable fields, two peak summits, a river confluence, a pumpkin farm, drove through dust storms in Cortez, spring snow storms in Boulder, experienced 15-degree-below-zero cold in Eagle, and 95-degree-heat in Windsor.

A bottle of local beer, painted on site at the brewery or where the beer is served, is featured in each painting. Work on a single painting could span from one day to three months. Repeat visits to a brewery, bar, or landscape kept the scene true. In some paintings hours in the mobile studio were transpired  looking at and fine tuning the abstract line and color relationships till they reached a harmony with the realistic image.
